Course Overview

The automotive paint and repair pre-apprenticeship is an ideal hands-on course to prepare young people for intermediate and advanced apprenticeships in vehicle accident paint repair.

Learners will cover topics that include:

  • Basic repair and preparation procedures
  • Preparing metal and pre-painted surfaces
  • Preparing and applying fillers and foundation materials to vehicles
  • Repairing minor paint defects

Learners will also gain a broad knowledge and understanding of health and safety in the workplace and other skills associated with working in a garage.

Successful learners can progress onto a vehicle paint repair apprenticeship, followed by permanent employment as a paint technician, then progression to a panel technician, senior mechanical technician or owning own business.

: The course is based in Trafford Park and you will achieve a level 2 diploma in vehicle accident repair paint principles

Duration: 32 weeks (3 days per week)

Eligibility: Discussed at interview 

You will receive an allowance of up to £10 per week. There may be additional bursaries that you can apply for.
