Course Overview

To work in this industry, individuals need a keen interest in technology and good analytical skills.

Qualified electricians can work for specialist contractors or companies that install and maintain renewable energy technologies.

The electrical pre-apprenticeship covers units on health and safety, scientific principles, communication in the building services industry, installation and design and practical elements.

The programme is split evenly between theory and practical.

After completing the pre-apprenticeship, learners can progress onto an electrical apprenticeship, followed by permanent employment as an electrician, and progression onto supervisory and management roles, including becoming an engineering technician.

Start date: August (3 days per week)

Eligibility: Minimum of 3 GCSE grade C or above to include maths/English/science 

You will receive an allowance of up to £10 per week. There may be additional bursaries that you can apply for.
