The Apprentice Preparation Programme
With the launch of the Apprenticeship Levy in April 2017, many companies have engaged with formal apprenticeship-based training and development programmes for the first time.
Whether it’s upskilling existing employees, or taking on new apprentices on the ground floor - we know engaging with apprenticeships for the first time can be daunting for newcomers.
To help out companies in this situation, we created the APP (Apprenticeship Preparation Programme). It’s designed to support your staff in recruiting, managing and developing apprentices, from before you hire them until they pass their end-point assessment and beyond.

How it works
We’ll work with you to support your staff throughout the lifecycle of training and development and follow the journey you’ll take when recruiting an apprentice.
The Growth Company can provide as much, or as little, input as you need to make sure your apprenticeship programmes are a success.
Effective interviewing can help draw out the right information from the interviewee - letting you make sure you’re selecting the right person for the job.
The APP will be of use if you need assistance in assessing potential candidates, or tailoring your recruitment and interview processes for young people.
We focus on strength-based interviewing, which is particularly useful when dealing with those who may be new to the workplace or have limited work experience.
The quality of induction can mean the difference between an effective and engaged employee and a disengaged member of staff.
Properly introducing a new employee to your organisation can reduce the time it’ll take them to settle in and boost staff retention.
We can provide advice, expertise and hands-on support on running effective induction programmes for a variety of roles and sectors.
A good mentor is able to tap into their knowledge and experience to support an apprentice in their professional development. We can help your staff get to grips with understanding how people learn, and how best to impart information, as well as honing their coaching skills to help apprentices unlock their own potential.
This can be of use for staff directly responsible for the training of apprentices, as well as line managers and others who will be supporting apprentices during their day-to-day work.
From setting SMART (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Timely) objectives and expectations to delivering clear, constructive feedback - our assessment training will help you accurately track the progress of your apprentice, support evidence gathering processes, test competencies and prepare them for end-point assessment.
Our training will help those responsible for apprentices to understand safeguarding issues, provide proper pastoral care and what to do if a safeguarding issue occurs.
Tailored to your needs
Our courses are completely flexible and we can design bespoke training that best meets the specific needs of your organisation.
Whether you’re looking for a one-day programme that provides an overview of all the above topics, a half-day session that focuses on one or two, or anything in between - we can help.
We also offer an immersive two-day Train the Trainer course for those delivering training in the workplace. This covers all the essential skills and techniques they’ll need to engage and motivate learners, as well as practical advice on developing compelling training techniques.
All of the above sessions can be delivered in a one-day programme for up to 12 people at a site of your choice, or you can pick and choose which areas to focus on and we’ll create a series of bespoke sessions or tailored one or half-day workshop to fit your needs.
Full-day sessions: £895 +VAT
Half-day sessions: £470 +VAT
