Bookkeeping is at the heart of every business, and the first steps in the accounting process. This course will provide you with the principles that underpin modern bookkeeping, allowing you to develop the skills needed for a career as a professional bookkeeper.

It will support you in taking your first steps into business, it will provide you with the fundamental, practical business skills needed to successfully start your career. 

Access Award in Bookkeeping
Learn how to establish key single – entry manual bookkeeping skills and gain an understanding about the role of a bookkeeper.

Access Award in Accounting Software
Learn how to create accounts, process accounting information and produce reports, while understanding the benefits and risks of using accounting software

Access Award in Business Skills
You will cover three main topic areas preparing for work, using numbers in business and sales and purchases in business. You will develop skills to enable you to work with common decimals and performing simple business calculations, through to understanding the principles of sales and purchases and how they support business.

Course dates 

We have two courses starting in February (week commencing 4th) and March (week commencing 4th) with limited places available.

Course duration

The course will run 3 days a week for 4 weeks (10:00am to 3:00pm).

Entry criteria

Students will need a GCSE Grade E and above or equivalent in Maths and English and be able to commit to the full 4 week course.

Once you have completed the course, you will be able to progress to the following:

  • Open your own business
  • Assistant accountancy position
  • Administration role
  • Retail assistant
  • Data entry clerk
  • Retail assistant
  • Warehouse operative
  • Level 2 Business Administration Apprenticeship
  • Level 2 accountancy course
