Our next chartered management degree apprenticeship group starts next month, following the successful launch back in February. This degree apprenticeship will equip managers with the knowledge, experience and skills they need to be successful in their role – no matter what sector they work in.

But why is it important to upskill managers? According to research from Approved Index, 42% of employees left their job due to poor management. Therefore if you want to reduce your staff turnover, it’s vital to bridge the quality gap and overcome barriers to employee engagement, performance management and communication. Our degree apprenticeship can help you to do just that.

In this guide, we’ll give you an overview of the standard and talk you through what skills you can expect to gain from the programme.

The breakdown

Perfect for upskilling managers, senior managers or anyone with significant managerial responsibilities within your organisation, the level 6 chartered management degree apprenticeship is accredited by the University of Bolton and the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). The programme covers a range of topics, including:

  • Business law
  • Marketing
  • People and performance
  • Leading and managing teams
  • Project management

The great thing about this apprenticeship is that learners don’t have to have a level 3 qualification under their belt. Instead, we’ll assess employer recommendations and the employees’ management experience rather than qualifications when deciding who successfully makes it onto the programme.

How long will it take to complete?

The standard typically takes four years to complete - sitting in funding band 15, with a maximum cap of £27,000. After completion, you will gain a degree in business and management and can apply for membership with the CMI.

What will I gain from the apprenticeship?

Just some of the skills you can expect to gain from the level 6 degree apprenticeship are:

  • Strategic decision making
  • Building teams
  • Fostering inclusive and ethical cultures
  • Developing strong stakeholder relationships

Core topic areas also include interpersonal skills, personal effectiveness and organisational performance.

The course is designed to give you skills and knowledge which can instantly be put into practice in your role, so you and your organisation can reap the benefits straight away.
