Ofsted Grade 2: Be part of something Good

10 Dec 2018
We're delighted to announce that we have lifted our provision from Ofsted 'Requires Improvement' to 'Good'.

The achievement has been confirmed in a newly published Ofsted report following an inspection in October which observed “strategies to improve teaching and learning have been successful. As a result, the quality of teaching, learning and assessment is now good.”

The report recognised that the work we had undertaken with local partners and employers has resulted in ‘a well-planned, coherent curriculum that meets the needs of residents and employers’. As a result the apprenticeship programmes available make a strong contribution to reducing local and regional skills needs. Inspectors found that significant improvements had been made across all the provision, which includes apprenticeships, 16-18 and adult courses.

GC Education & Skills is one of the largest training providers in the region, with training centres across Greater Manchester and beyond.

Jayne Worthington, Managing Director for GC Education & Skills explains: “We have been on an incredible journey and this report is testament to the hard work, dedication and passion of the entire team.”

“Our goal has always been to provide high-quality apprenticeships, training and education for all, ensuring our provision meets both local and national skills needs. We have actively engaged with employers to help design and mould our provision so it is aligned with workplace requirements and can genuinely prepare our learners for successful and rewarding futures.”

With 30 years of training and skills excellence, the focus on provision which meets the skills needs of the region is clearly paying off. Other highlights from report include “Learners benefit from effectives support” in the training centres based across Greater Manchester and St Helens, “a large proportion of unemployed adults who complete their courses gain employment” and learners on Access to Higher Education programmes “gain confidence and take pride in their work”.

The report also noted “Employers value highly apprentices’ increasing efficiency and the good contribution they make to their business.”

Mark Hughes, Chief Executive of The Growth Company, adds: “This is an exciting time for our GC Education & Skills team. Our vision is to provide everyone the opportunity to grow and develop without boundaries, and this report proves our commitment to this.

“I would like to congratulate the whole team here at GC Education & Skills on this fantastic achievement. I would also like to thank the wider GC team for their support and to our employer partners for helping us to develop and deliver training and skills which will prepare students for a wide-range of careers.”

“Delivering first-class education and training is a continuous process and we look forward to building on this success to ensure our learners are at the forefront of skills and innovation.”
