What #NAW2023 means to GC Apprentice, Elisha Tootell

12 Feb 2023

I am a proud apprentice working for the Growth Company and I am thrilled to be able to celebrate National Apprenticeship Week. It’s a chance for us to highlight the benefits of apprenticeships and showcase the opportunities that are available.

National Apprenticeship Week is not just about celebrating the success of apprentices, but also about highlighting the positive impact apprentices have on businesses. An apprentice will bring fresh ideas, new perspectives, and a thirst for learning to the workplace. Their contribution should not be underestimated as they are invaluable assets to any company.

I have worked for the Growth Company for almost a year and it is a hub of innovation and progress, they offer numerous apprenticeships across a range of industries, including technology, engineering and construction, creative arts, and digital media.

As an apprentice at the Growth Company, I have been able to gain hands-on experience, work on real projects and develop my skills in a supportive and dynamic environment. The knowledge and skills that I have acquired during my time at the Growth Company have opened new career pathways for me. Additionally, apprenticeships offer a chance to build relationships and network with other professionals in the industry.

During my apprenticeship, I have made relationships with my peers and mentors that have helped and supported me to grow both professionally and personally. These relationships will continue to be valuable throughout my career and I am grateful for the opportunities that have come my way as a result of being an apprentice.

Apprenticeships are a fantastic way to gain practical skills, knowledge and experience all whilst earning a wage. Apprenticeships offer a cost-effective alternative to traditional higher education. By earning a wage whilst learning you can avoid the debt that comes with attending university. I chose to do an apprenticeship instead of going to university because I wanted to start my career as a Junior Content Producer as soon as possible and I wanted to gain hands-on experience and put my learning into practice.

If you’re thinking about starting your career or looking for a change, I would encourage you to consider an apprenticeship. You’ll gain valuable skills and experience and have the opportunity to work for a company that values you and your future. And, with National Apprenticeship Week taking place, there has never been a better time to start your journey.

National Apprenticeship week is a time to celebrate the success of apprenticeships and to understand the importance they play in the future of our workforce. It is important for businesses and organisations to invest in apprenticeships to provide people with the opportunities they need to succeed.

I am looking forward to what the future holds.
