About this opportunity

Metrolink are looking for an engineering apprentice to start this once in a lifetime career opportunity. This apprenticeship will follow a 4 year engineering pathway, which will include training in all areas to support the network and fleet of trams.

A normal day would include:
• Supporting the operation and maintenance of the Metrolink system
• Learning and developing skills in areas such as mechanical and electrical maintenance inspection and testing, fault finding, breakdown repair, and electronic engineering
• Working as part of the team on the 24/7shift system
• Producing and maintaining accurate records in accordance with role requirements
• Demonstrating continual commitment to develop your skills and knowledge throughout your apprenticeship.

The apprenticeship is fully structured throughout. Year 1 and 2 providing training across a range of engineering skills. Year 3 and 4 will be structured to focus on the final skilled role-related training to become an engineering technician in one of engineering trades within Metrolink.

Your continuous aim will be to develop your skills and knowledge throughout your apprenticeship, to become a fully competent team member on completion. The ability to work safely and effectively in a time constrained environment is an essential requirement of the apprenticeship.

Successful applicants progressing to the later stages of the selection process will have the opportunity to discuss the specific roles with existing skilled Metrolink engineers.
