Apprentice Machinist

About this opportunity

An excellent opportunity has arisen at an established, highly successful company for a mechanical engineering apprentice. You will undertake the setting/operating on a range of manual machines to cover the ranges of production components.

A normal day would include:
• Setting up and operating the centre lathers/radial arm drills/milling machines/broach/slotter and grinding machines.
• TIG welding of stainless steel to a high standard ensuring that the Company’s processes and procedures are followed.
• Dealing with automatic rolling machines and punch presses.
• Learning how to manufacture design drawings
• Supporting with Lean QSDIPM KPI’s and Lean projects
• Maintaining a very high standard of 5S housekeeping at all times
• Assisting when necessary in the stainless steel and cast-iron departments.
• Assisting in the movement of materials within the factory
• Assisting the manufacture and final inspection of fabricated products
• Ensuring all company procedures are followed at all times
• Ensuring all health and safety regulations are adhered to at all times

The above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the organisation and the overall business objectives of the organisation.
