Apprentice Care Assistant

About this opportunity

To provide residential and respite care services for residents at Parkside. The living accommodation at Parkside is of a very high standard and every care is taken to ensure all residents live as independently as possible.

Main duties:

To be directly involved in the personal care of residents and respite care users, providing emotional support and encouraging social interaction
To work with residents encouraging choice, participation, motivation and risk taking, with each individual’s needs at the centre of that work
To ensure the safety of residents at all times and be familiar with both Adult Protection policies and procedures
To assist with serving of refreshments and meals
To help residents with mobility problems and other physical disabilities and to assist in the use of care aids and personal equipment
To make and change beds, assist in the care of personal clothing and washing, to do some light cleaning, including wheelchairs, personal drawers and cupboards, ensuring the resident’s environment is clean and tidy at all times
To encourage and support residents, assisting at mealtimes to detailed care plans; bathing; dressing/undressing; personal cleanliness and appearance
To take part in scheduled day and group activities with residents in accordance with the activities timetable.
