About this opportunity

Brief overview of the role
Do you love the outdoors and helping people learn? Want a salary whilst working towards a nationally recognised qualification? This could this be the perfect opportunity for you to start your teaching career

This apprenticeship will be challenging and will stretch you to your limits but most importantly it will be fun and exciting and will develop so many important skills for your future.
We are recruiting for apprentices for the new academic year – we’re looking for people aged 18+ for safeguarding reasons, to support learners with special educational needs (SEN), many of whom demonstrate challenging behaviours.
You’ll be based at either one of our education facilities at Stoke on Trent or Cannock where you’ll work alongside an inclusive education practitioner (IEP) mostly in a classroom setting to support students on a 2:1 or 2:2 ratio.
During term time you’ll be:
• Part of a team delivering a bespoke package of education to SEN learners on a day-to-day basis, including basic academic subjects
• Understanding child safety policies
• Opportunities to work in the outdoors contributing to and participating in the delivery of enrichment sessions (e.g., mountain biking, climbing, water sports, etc.)
• The balance of academic/outdoor activity is dependent on each learner’s capability and level of engagement
You’ll have a dedicated line manager and will work alongside an experienced IEP (who may have started their journey as an apprentice themselves) who will support your development throughout your apprenticeship, whilst you assist them in the day to day tasks in school supporting learning delivery to the school’s students. Our aim is that you’ll follow in their footsteps at the end of your apprenticeship programme!
Outside term time you’ll dedicate your time to coursework, alongside which you’ll achieve an accredited first aid qualification and undergo a variety of in house training courses to support your learning.
You will need a flexible outlook and a willingness to learn new things and take on new challenges.
Whilst we can’t guarantee a role at the end of the course, we hope that you will want to stay with us after your apprenticeship and become one of our respected inclusive education practitioners

What you should have to apply

GCSE (or equivalent) in English and maths, grades A*-C/9-4.
