About this opportunity

Torkington Engineers is a provider of advanced apprenticeships in mechanical engineering. Partnering with The Growth Company, our 3 years advanced apprenticeship program delivers the very highest practical and academic engineering skills training.

A normal day would include:-

• Utilising state of the art CNC machines to produce various products for industry
• Co manufacturers of bespoke machine parts for oil gas nuclear chemicals and power generation CNC work one off components metallic and non metallic metals fitting turning milling cnc machines Est 1949 –
• Types of components manufactured includes pump shafts column pipes & bearing housings
• Utilising state of the art CNC machines to produce various products for industry
• Exposure to high end engineering work and experience working with our team of highly skilled engineers on the workshop and in our office
• Access to a full range of high-end CNC and conventional machines in our 18,000 sq.ft workshop
• Working with our dedicated Apprentice Trainer through our own foundation training syllabus for fitting, turning and milling
• Upon successful completion of your foundation training, opportunities to work with the Foreman on high-end projects to gain further real-world engineering experience

The majority of our senior roles are occupied by employees who have progressed through our Apprentice training scheme over the last 25 years. Pay progression and career development go hand-in-hand – you develop, your earnings grow too!

Dedicated and hard-working Apprentices have the opportunity to become highly skilled, time-served precision engineers and progress the career ladder with exciting, interesting and rewarding positions within the Company – for example:
• Key roles in CNC programming/setting/machining
• Estimating and method planning
• Quality control and inspection
• Sales and marketing

How you will be supported:
Full training and support will be provided by The Growth Company in addition to the training received on site, to help you achieve your Apprenticeship and reach your full potential in your role.

What you should have to apply

• Successful applicants will have a minimum 5 GCSE’s, with grades B/5 or above in Maths and English
• Similarly, good grades in IT and Science will be an advantage
• All applicants are to supply evidence of their academic achievements at interview
