About this opportunity

Bolton St Catherine’s Academy are looking for an IT support sssistant as part of the school support workforce. This is a fantastic opportunity to kick start your career, gaining a valuable qualification in technical IT support.

A normal day might include
• Acting as a role model and demonstrating positive personal qualities in all you do in line with the academy’s ethos
? Providing technical support and advice to students and teaching staff
? Performing routine ICT tasks
? Managing small projects
? Facilitating the smooth running of the network by undertaking reasonable tasks as required, including some administrative tasks
? Supporting the school’s internet and email systems
? Supporting the day-to-day running of the curriculum/admin network in collaboration with the facilities manager
? Providing support and maintenance for network hardware and software, including classroom support
? Assisting in undertaking basic site management tasks including moving furniture, equipment and litter picking
? Providing technical support for curriculum and school events
? Supporting staff in the use of ICT equipment
? Reporting faults to the facilities manager as required
? Supporting in-house training as and when required
? Attending meetings as and when required

What you could go on to do:
At the end of your apprenticeship you will achieve the nationally recognised ITQ qualification, as well as valuable work experience, that will provide you with the best chance possible of being offered a full-time role within the school or any organisation requiring IT support. A newly qualified IT technician can earn between £18,000 and £22,000 per year. In time and with experience you could go on to become a network manager.

What you should have to apply

• GCSE grades C/4 or above in maths and English
• Must be IT literate
• Willingness and ability to complete level 3 IT professional pathway apprenticeship
• Willingness to participate in relevant training and development opportunities
