About this opportunity

Great Places are seeking an Apprentice Warehouse Operative to undertake a wide range of in house work including goods in, goods out and picking orders for trade operatives in the housing sector.

A normal day would include:
• Reporting to the Warehouse Manager, this post will work under the daily supervision of a competent, experienced Warehouse Operative with the support of the Warehouse Manager who will both provide mentoring support and role related training.
• Receipting of goods in to the warehouse and processing the related paperwork for deliveries
• Ordering picking of materials using a hand-held device
• Delivering stock items to operatives and collect any return items
• Working with the logistics planner to plan optimum routes to and between delivery sites
• Ensuring the delivery vehicle and the load comply with safety regulations
• Updating hand held device with delivery confirmation
• Maintaining all relevant records of journeys for audit purposes ensuring driving hours, regulations and HSE guidelines are compliant
• Operating a FLT counterbalance when required
• Assisting with regular stock takes with in the warehouse and operatives vans
• Sorting returned waste items in to correct disposal areas
• All other ad hoc warehouse duties when required
• Ensuring a flexible working approach between the core working hours (Monday to Friday 07.00 – 18.00)
• Completing all requirements of the Level 2 qualification Warehouse Operative apprenticeship qualification.
• Fork Lift Truck Counterbalance
• Safe and secure goods storage

The employer will also provide you with a workplace mentor to support your development within the role as well as lots of additional training and development opportunities and enable you to participate in a range of organisational projects to enhance the skills you develop even further.

Personal Qualities

• Qualified to minimum GCSE grade C/4 or equivalent in English and maths
