About this opportunity

Beenstock Care Home have an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic individual looking to secure an apprenticeship in health and social care. Beenstock Home value their apprentices, which is reflected in the hourly rate they will pay.

A normal day would include:
• Assisting staff in the daily care of residents, helping with dressing / undressing, washing, bathing and personal hygiene where necessary
• Encouraging support, choice and independence
• Helping residents with problems of mobility and other physical disabilities
• Helping with the organisation of social activities, and to participate in them to help promote residents esteem and physical and mental wellbeing
• Assisting with light domestic duties including: making beds, tidying and emptying commodes
• Assisting with the laundry, collecting resident’s clothes where necessary
• Helping in the serving of food and drink, assisting residents where required
• Completing daily monitoring records as requested
• Helping to monitor the condition of residents and report any changes to the senior care assistant/person in charge
• Helping to maintain a safe and healthy environment within the home, with due regard to food hygiene and health and safety procedures
• Maintaining confidentiality of the residents and the home
• Attending staff and residents meeting where appropriate
• Participating in training activities and courses where directed
• Assisting and encouraging residents to maintain orthodox Jewish practices

The care home is integrated into a sheltered housing complex that comprises three floors, with sheltered flats on the ground and second floors, and the residential unit on the first floor. The home offers a culturally specific service for Orthodox Jewish people.

You could progress onto doing your level 3 apprenticeship in health and social care.
