About this opportunity

This is an exciting opportunity to join The University of Manchester as an Apprentice Business Administrator. at you will work closely with the Technical Apprenticeship management team and the Head of Technical services.

Duties may include but not limited to;

• Assist with the direction of enquiries to the appropriate personnel
• Collection of information on behalf on the Head of Technical Services and Technical Apprenticeship Coordinator for presentation at meetings and events
• Setting up and maintenance of confidential staff files and enabling access to such files for members of staff with line management responsibilities.
• Recording of apprentice data such as training, appraisals and progress
• Varied use of University systems to purchase items, book travel and claim expenses
• Assist with the planning and preparation of internal and external events

What you could go on to do
The University of Manchester will award the successful applicant a 3 year fixed term apprenticeship contract.

On successful completion of the business administration qualification the final year will be used to develop further skills, taking up training offered and building CV and interview skills ready to progress.

Opportunities will be created to work together on cross-Faculty projects to broaden your experience and demonstrate the many opportunities that exist within our university.

What you should have to apply

• 5 GCSEs at Grade C (Grade 4) or above to include English and Mathematics.

Personal Qualities

• A keen eye for detail, self-motivated and a strong work-ethic (punctual & reliable).
• An ability to work both independently and within a team to meet time-critical goals and targets as the role dictates.
• A willingness to undertake further practical and theoretical training as dictated by the role.

Skills

• Good IT skills including the ability to produce spreadsheets and populate data.
• Be willing to undertake any training necessary to allow proficient execution of the duties outlined above.
• An ability to work both independently and within a team to meet time-critical goals and targets as the role dictates.

Desirable Skills
• Experience of Outlook mail and calendar
