Hairdressing Level 1 & 2
If you have a passion for hair and want to start a career in the hairdressing industry, this course is for you.
Based at our Wigan Skills Centre, this course is designed for 16 to 18-year-olds and will be tailored to your needs. You’ll work towards a core qualification in Hairdressing and also complete a combination of additional qualifications, which may include:
- Employability Skills

Personal, Social, Health and Economic education (PSHE)

Maths and English (if needed)
You’ll also have the opportunity to gain real-world experience through a work placement or working in a salon-style environment while you study.
We have three course start dates throughout the academic year:
- September
- November
- January

You will learn different aspects of the hairdressing trade such as:
- Blow drying
- Shampoo and conditioning
- Plaiting and twisting hair
- Assisting with colouring
- Customer care and reception
There are no formal grade requirements.
You may be eligible to apply for one or more of our bursaries if you meet the criteria.

On successful completion, you will achieve a Level 1 or 2 in Hairdressing.
The course is FREE for anyone aged 16-18 or 19 - 24 with an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP).
