Hairdressing Level 1 & 2
If you have a passion for hair and want to start a career in the hairdressing industry, this course is for you.
Based at our Wigan skills centre, this course is designed for 16 to 18-year-olds and will be tailored to your needs. You’ll work towards a core qualification in Hairdressing and also complete a combination of additional qualifications, which may include:
- Employability Skills

Personal, Social, Health and Economic education (PSHE)

Maths and English (if needed)
You’ll also have the opportunity to gain real-world experience through a work placement or working in a salon-style environment while you study.

You will learn different aspects of the hairdressing trade such as:
- Blow drying
- Shampoo and conditioning
- Plaiting and twisting hair
- Assisting with colouring
- Customer care and reception
There are no formal grade requirements.
Yes, you will receive a bursary of up to £10.50* per day.
*Subject to adhering to the attendance and behaviour polices.
On successful completion, you will achieve a Level 1 or 2 in Hairdressing.
The course is FREE for anyone aged 16-18 or 19 - 24 with an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP).
