Health and Social Care - Study Programme

This Study Programme is for school or college leavers aged 16 to 18 who are looking to seek employment in the Health and Social Care sector and progress quickly onto a level 2 apprenticeship.

This is a government-funded programme which has been designed to support and develop your knowledge and skills to get you started in your career in Health & Social Care with progression to the Adult Care Worker Level 2 Apprenticeship.

The course brings together a wealth of knowledge, skills and behaviours that enhances your chance of securing an apprenticeship working in the Health & Social Care sector.

During this course you will be able to gain a full understanding of the values that underpin quality social care provision. These are known as the 6C’s - Care, Compassion, Competence, Communication, Courage and Commitment. You will learn about the Health & Social Care sector and key employability skills which will enable progression to an Apprenticeship.

You will also gain a Level 2 Certificate in Falls Prevention Awareness and the Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of the Prevention and Control of Infection in Health Care Settings.

Level 2 Certificate in Falls Prevention Awareness -

  • Falls in context
  • The risk factors and causes of falls
  • Falls assessment and prevention
  • Managing falls

Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of the Prevention and Control of Infection in Health Care Settings –

  • Principles of the causes and spread of infection in healthcare settings
  • Principles of the importance of personal hygiene and health in the prevention and control of infection in healthcare settings
  • Principles of decontamination, cleaning and waste management in healthcare settings
  • Principles of infection prevention and control in a healthcare setting

You will also complete a work experience placement within the Health and Social Care sector.

  • Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of the Prevention and Control of Infection in Health Care Settings
  • DBS certificate (Disclosure Barring Service check)
  • Maths and English Functional Skills (if required)
What are the entry requirements?

You must have a minimum of 3 GCSEs grade 3 or above.

You need to be highly motivated and committed, be able to work independently and have a strong willingness to learn.

 

When will I attend?

This Study Programme is a combination of classroom and online learning. You will be required to attend 2.5 days per week.

How much does the course cost?

The course is FREE for anyone aged 16-18.
