This course is designed for individuals interested in starting a career in the health, adult care, or child care sectors. It is suitable for those who are new to these fields and want to gain foundational skills and knowledge to begin their professional journey.

Your Study Programme will be tailored to meet your needs and will include one of the above qualifications, plus a combination of additional qualifications such as Essential Digital Skills, Health & Safety, and Maths and English (if needed). You will also have the opportunity to complete a work placement or work experience while studying with us.

When does the course start?

August and September 2024.

Don't worry if you are not ready to start with us in August or September, if we have space you can join this course throughout the year.

What does the course cover?

The Level 1 Certificate for Skills for Working in the Health, Adult and Child Care Sectors qualification combines core Employability Skills including communication, conduct at work, personal finance, team work, attitudes and values for work and undertaking a high quality work placement with introductory knowledge of Healthcare, Adult Care and Child Care sector, safeguarding and person centred care; enabling learners to learn and develop to enter employment in the Healthcare, Adult Care and Child Care sector.

You will need to complete the following 3 mandatory unity, plus optional units:

  • Introduction to working in health care, adult care and child care
  • Introduction to safeguarding in health care, adult care and childcare
  • Introduction to working in a person-centred way in health and adult care

 

If you do not hold the relevant English and maths qualifications, you will work towards them as part of this programme.

 

When will I attend?

Your attendance will depend on your timetable. We will go through this information with you in detail when you enrol.

What will I achieve?

On successful completion, you will achieve either a Level 1 Certificate for Working in Health, Adult and Child Care Sectors.

You will be able to understand and demonstrate suitable work, personal skills, attitudes, thinking and behaviour.

You will be more confident at interview, completing an applications and on your first day working in the sector.

Will I receive a bursary?

Yes, you will receive a bursary of up to £10.50* per day.

*Subject to adhering to the attendance and behaviour polices.

What are the entry requirements?

There are no formal entry requirements however, you will need to attend an informal interview.

How much does the course cost?

The course is FREE for anyone aged 16-18 or 19-24 with an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP).
