This course is for school or college leavers aged 16 to 18 who want to progress onto a Level 3 qualification or apprenticeship in Health and Social Care — or take their first step into a job in the sector.

If you have a passion for care and want to work in the Adult Health and Social Care sector, this course is for you.

Your course will be tailored to your needs and will include a core qualification in Health and Social Care, alongside a combination of additional qualifications, which may include:

  • Employability Skills
  • Maths and English (if needed)

You’ll also have the opportunity to complete a work placement or gain work experience while studying with us.

What does the course cover?

This qualification comprises of the following nine mandatory units:

  • Principles of communication in adult social care settings
  • Principles of personal development in adult social care settings
  • Principles of diversity, equality and inclusion in adult social care
  • Principles of safeguarding and protection in health and social care
  • Introduction to duty of care in health, social care or children’s and young people’s settings
  • Understand the role of the Social Care Worker
  • Understand person centred approaches in adult social care settings
  • Understand health and safety in social care settings
  • Understand how to handle information in social care settings
What will I achieve?

On successful completion, you will achieve a Level 2 Certificate in Preparing to Work in Adult Health and Social Care.

You can also gain qualifications in Employability Skills, Maths and English.

What are the entry requirements?

You must have Level 1 qualifications in maths and English (equivalent to Grade 3 GCSE) or to be working at a level 1 standard, this will be assessed during induction.

You must have previously completed a Level 1 in Health and Social Care.

When will I attend?

Your attendance will depend on your timetable. We will go through this information with you in detail when you enrol.

How much does the course cost?

The course is FREE for anyone aged 16-18 or 19-24 with an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP).

WILL I RECEIVE A BURSARY?

Yes, you will receive a bursary of up to £10.50* per day.
