This course is ideal for individuals looking to start a career in painting and decorating. This qualification enables you to demonstrate and recognise your skills, knowledge and understanding so you can work as a Painter and Decorator within the construction industry.

Working within this area you can play an important role in the painting and finishing of structural steel and concrete work used in bridges, factories, industrial and commercial buildings, as well as houses and apartments.

What does the course cover?

The course comprises of the following 9 mandatory units:

  • Apply paint systems by brush and roller
  • Apply standard papers to ceilings and walls
  • Apply water-borne paint systems using high volume low pressure (HVLP) spay equipment
  • Erect and dismantle access equipment and working platforms
  • Health, safety and welfare in construction and associated industries
  • Knowledge of construction technology
  • Knowledge of technical information, quantities and communication with others
  • Prepare surfaces for decoration
  • Produce specialist decorative finishes

You will be assessed against a set of performance and knowledge statements which have been derived from National Occupational Standards for your occupational area. You will be trained and assessed by an occupationally competent and qualified trainer whose job is to help you complete your qualification. 

When will I attend?

Attendance is required on the following days:

  • Monday 8am - 3pm
  • Tuesday 8am - 3pm
What will I achieve?

On successful completion you will achieve a C-Skills Level 2 Diploma in Painting and Decorating (Construction).

What are the entry requirements?

There are no formal entry grade requirements however, learners require to complete an initial assessment and interview.
