Who is the Access to Higher Education Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery for?

This course is ideal for adults aged 19+ who are passionate about caring for others and want to study nursing, midwifery, or related healthcare subjects at university, but don’t currently have the qualifications needed to apply.

Whether you're returning to education after a break, changing careers, or didn’t get the grades you hoped for at school, this diploma provides a supportive pathway into higher education and a rewarding career in healthcare.

When will I attend?

Course Delivery Options

You can choose how you study:

Online delivery - from January 2027

Online classes will be on the following days:

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evening, 4.30pm – 8.30pm

In-person classes – from September 2027
Classes will be on the following days:

Monday: 10:00am – 2:30pm
Tuesday: 10:00am – 2:30pm
Friday: 10:00am – 2:30pm

What will I achieve?

On successful completion, you will achieve a Level 3 Access to Higher Education Diploma in Nursing and Midwifery awarded by our awarding body, Ascentis.

Our Access to HE Diplomas are licensed by the QAA and recognised by universities across the UK.

What are the entry requirements?

Applicants must be over 19 years old.

We would preferably expect our adult learners to have maths and English at Level 1 or equivalent. We are happy to discuss applications on an individual basis and welcome applicants with overseas qualifications and/or relevant work/life experience.

How much does the course cost?

Funding may be available through Adult Skills Fund (ASF) or an Advanced Learner Loan for eligible learners. Please note that Advanced Learner Loan funding is expected to be limited from January 2027, so many learners may need to self-fund their course.

Option 1: Monthly Payment Plan

Total cost: £1,500

Spread the cost over the 7-month course:

Month 1: £215
Months 2-6: £214 per month
Month 7: £215

Option 2: Pay in Full and Save 5%

Total cost: £1,425

Pay the full course fee by 1 January 2027 and receive a 5% discount, saving £75.
