Preparing to Teach in the Education and Training Sector course is designed for new entrants to the lifelong learning sector. Covering the fundamental elements involved in planning, preparing and implementing learning in your subject area, our Level 4 course is designed to introduce you to the core ideas and knowledge underpinning a career in the teaching profession.
The next course runs from 16 January 2026 to 20 March 2026.
The qualification is made up of a number of short, manageable assignments including a 15 minute observed session.
Learners are required to attend face-to-face sessions from 10:00am – 2:30pm. In addition, you will need to dedicate time to independent study outside of these sessions.

On successful completion, you will achieve a Level 4 Preparing to Teach in the Education and Training Sector.
You should have a Level 3 qualification in a subject relevant to the area you wish to teach, along with relevant up-to-date experience in that specialism.
