A massive congratulations to Jason Eckersley, who has been named the British Gypsum Learner of the Year for Plastering!
Lee Beveridge, Delivery Manager at the Skills Centre, summed up Jason perfectly:
“Jason has shown outstanding commitment, professionalism and teamwork throughout his time with us. His prior trade experience, humility and willingness to support others make him a valued member of the Centre. His growth has had a lasting positive impact on both peers and his tutor.”
Jason, enrolled onto our Level 2 Study Programme in Plastering, has been an incredible part of our SkillCentre community, always working hard, always helping others and always bringing positivity into the room. Even with years in the trade behind him, he stays grounded and focused, never afraid to learn something new.
His tutor, Paul Orton said:
“Jason has worked tirelessly over the past 18 months, supporting his peers and developing his skills. He could easily have acted like he knew it all because of his background, but he never has. He shares what he knows and brings real value to every session.”
Jason’s dedication goes beyond the classroom, he even returned to learning, safely and appropriately, while recovering from a broken wrist because he didn’t want to fall behind. He takes on challenges with enthusiasm and brings a great sense of humour that lifts the whole group.
Paul adds:
“I can’t praise Jason enough. He’s resilient, a great teammate and a real credit to his Grandad, the trade, and our Skills Centre. A massive well done!”
Jason added:
“Nice one! It’s great to win and a lot of it comes down to you, Paul. You put us here and made it so we can improve and get better. I enjoy it in class, I know the lads do too and I appreciate the recognition, even though I don’t like a fuss. Thank you.”
We’re incredibly proud of you, Jason, well done on this fantastic achievement!
