Joinery apprentice named as the best in the North West

20 Mar 2019
Charlie Wheeler has been awarded with the North West region’s best apprentice accolade in the Federation of Master Builders’ (FMB) Master Builder Awards 2019. As part of the awards, the FMB searches the country to find the building industry’s best apprentices.

The awards have been established since 1999, showcasing examples of quality craftsmanship, exceptional customer service and building excellence. The awards programme recognises the hard work and contribution that small and medium-sized (SME) construction firms make to the UK’s construction industry.

Charlie is one of our joinery apprentices, working for Hende Building Services in Cheadle. He was selected amongst many other hard-working apprentices and was recognised for his high standard of workmanship and professional attitude towards his job and studies. Charlie has excellent time-keeping skills, a great attitude and a strong work ethic. The judges have named Charlie ‘a star in the making’.

His team at Hende Building Services have been amazed by the young apprentice’s development, commitment and progression on his apprenticeship journey. He has quickly become a valued member of the team.

Caroline Meehan, Director of FMB North, said: “This is a great opportunity for the FMB to reward the talented apprentices on which the UK construction industry will rely in the years to come. This award is a testament to their hard work and enthusiasm in their chosen occupation. Charlie is a shining example of how commitment, dedication and determination can achieve results and we wish him luck in the national final.”

Charlie will now go up against other winning regional apprentices from all over the UK, with a chance of scooping the national award. The national ceremony will be held at the Intercontinental Hotel in London on 20th September.

Congratulations Charlie – we wish you the best of luck at the awards!
