Support for Carillion apprentices is welcome

13 Mar 2018
The Growth Company has welcomed the Construction Industry Training Board’s (CITB) package of support for apprentices affected by collapse of Carillion.

In partnership with the Government and employers in the construction industry, CITB has set up a project team that will prioritise the retention and redeployment of these apprentices.

They have devised an ‘in principle’ package of support, including grants and apprenticeship transfer incentives, to encourage construction employers to enable these apprentices to join their existing workforce.

Working with the Department for Education, the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA) and its network of colleges, CITB is hopeful that it will be able to provide these learners with the opportunity to continue their education and training to ensure their skills are not lost .

If you are a Carillion apprentice affected by this news you can email carillion.apprenticeshipsupport@citb.co.uk or phone 0344 994 4010.

If you are an employer who would like to discuss supporting a Carillion apprentice, please also use these contact details.

What we can do for you

As a major provider of skills and apprenticeships - with construction skills one of our key strengths – we can guide you through your next steps. We are able to offer face to face and telephone interviews with one of our specialist advisors to ascertain what stage you are up to with your apprenticeship and how we may be able to support you moving forward. This could, for example, involve you being able to complete a qualification at our SkillCentre in Trafford Park or being able to complete your apprenticeship with one of our construction employers.
