The School of Environment, Education and Development (SEED) is part of the University of Manchester and is an internationally recognised centre of excellence in both research and teaching and home to five interrelated subjects: Architecture, Education, Geography, International Development and Planning and Environmental Management. We have over 3000 students and offer a range of courses at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
As an Apprentice within SEED you will be given the opportunity to develop your administrative, communication, negotiation and customer service skills as well as contributing to the success of the School. You will learn how to plan your day in order to meet deadlines, work as part of a team and deal with customers, provide support for events and meetings and gain an understanding of educational policies and procedures.
This apprenticeship will provide a wide range of clerical and administrative experience within the School’s Teaching, Learning and Student Support team and offers a range of training opportunities in:
General clerical support including; word processing, filing, photocopying
Data input and retrieval from IT systems
Use of spreadsheets
Responding to emails and other correspondence
Dealing with students and staff in person, answering telephones and taking messages
Placing financial orders and organising travel
Assisting with the preparation for meetings e.g. refreshments, room bookings, distribution of papers etc
Assisting with events and diary management.
GCSEs or equivalent A-C in English and Maths.
