This is a great opportunity to start a rewarding career in Floor Laying. Based in Cheadle Hulme, The Wood Flooring Company are looking for an Apprentice to learn on the job and assist in daily work and responsibilities.
Floor laying is a manual occupation that can be physically demanding. The successful apprentice will need a good general level of fitness. A solid understanding of basic Health & Safety at work is needed to be a Floor Laying Apprentice as the job involves the use of power tools. The job can be very varied, from installing vinyls in domestic properties, to creating and installing complex decorative designs in domestic properties. The apprenticeship covers all aspects of training, including floor restoration, uplifting and replacing, sand finishing, oak flooring, moisture measure reading and testing for and abating sub floor moisture, working vinyl tile products, seaming, stretching, adhering, cutting and securing vinyl flooring to all types of area and sub floor.
Education and training for this Apprenticeship will be delivered by Accrington College starting September 2016. Therefore the successful Apprentice would need to attend Accrington college once a week for their day release training. The Skills Company has provided a free bus service to Accrington College in the past and this should be in place for September 2016. However a full driving license and access to a vehicle would be to the Apprentices advantage.
None specified however GCSE A-C in Maths and English is expected. Functional Skills support for Maths and English can be incorporated into the Apprenticeship.
