Metrolink Engineering Apprentice - A Once in a Lifetime Career Opportunity.

Metrolink apprenticeship will follow a 4 year engineering pathway, with the aim of achieving skilled engineer status and becoming an integral part of the Engineering team. The Apprenticeship will include training in all areas covered by the Engineering and Service activities which support the network and fleet of trams.
The apprenticeship will involve learning a wide range of Engineering skills which support the operation and maintenance of the Metrolink System.
Learning and developing Skills in areas such as Mechanical and Electrical Maintenance, Inspection and Testing, Fault Finding and Breakdown Repair.
The apprenticeship is a hands on maintenance workshop based role, working in a practical engineering environment, working as part of the team on the 24/7shift system.
The apprenticeship is fully structured throughout, year 1 and 2 providing training across a range engineering skills. Year 3 and 4 will be structured to focus on the final skilled role related training and follow a path leading to becoming a Tram Technician.
Your continuous aim will be to develop your skills and knowledge throughout your apprenticeship, to become a fully competent team member on completion. The ability to work safely and effectively in a time constrained environment is an essential requirement of the apprenticeship.
Successful applicants progressing to the later stages of the selection process will have the opportunity to discuss the specific role with existing skilled Metrolink engineers.
In addition to your salary you will receive a free metrolink tram pass.
Minimum of 4 GCSE'S Grade C. Must include English,Maths and Science
The role requires a good level of understanding in both Maths and Science. Good IT Skills and a similar
achievement in IT would be useful.
You will be required to undertake Engineering related assessment tests as part of the initial stage of the selection process.
You will also be required to demonstrate your ability and suitability for the position by undertaking an on site practical work related trial and assessment day as part of the later stage selection process.
Passing a pre appointment medical will also be required for the successful 2 candidates.
The role requires Night Shift working and applicants will need to be 18 years of age by August 2016.

Metrolink Engineering and Service Activities operates on a continuous 24/7 basis and you must be flexible and prepared to work to the business operating shift system. The network and support operates 364 days per year.
