We’re hiring! Due to staff changes we are expanding our IT Department and are looking for a suitable IT Apprentice Level 3 with strong IT skills.
The apprentice will work alongside a small team of engineers who are responsible for commissioning and supporting the companies own range of CCTV surveillance equipment and software.
Key skills and technologies that will be used in the role will include:
- Windows XP, Vista and 7
- SQL server and MS Access
- TCP/IP networking
- Firewall rules
- Remote access tools and VPN
- Meyertech CCTV software applications
- Network storage
- Video streaming, H.264 and MPEG4
- PC components, e.g. Hard drive, memory, graphics card etc.
The role will involve duties in the following key areas:
Preparing equipment for dispatch to customers
- Installing software applications, service packs and drivers
- Configuring bios and operating system to a set profile
- Setting up customer and system specific configurations for installed CCTV applications
- System testing
- Serial numbering, pre-shipment checks and documentation
Assisting with commissioning of customers installations
- Working on customer sites and remote connections
- Network configuration of workstations and servers
- Identifying and diagnosing installation and connectivity issues on PC equipment
- Tailoring application configurations to customers’ requirements
- Test and sign-off
Providing telephone & remote access support to customers
- Taking fault reports over the telephone direct from customers; gathering relevant information
- Using call logging software to record details
- Fault identification, resolution and referral
- Providing technical information on Meyertech products
- Making configuration changes and applying patches and upgrades to customer systems remotely
Returns and Repairs
- Testing and diagnosis of faults on workstations & servers
- Generating RMA requests on faulty PC component parts
- Replacement of faulty components
- Software & operating system re-installs
In-house support to development & sales teams
- Setting up and maintaining systems for testing and demonstration
