About this opportunity

You don’t have to have completed an internship to work at a bank. The UBS Investment Bank Chief Operating Office (COO) apprenticeship programme provides ambitious and talented individuals with an alternative route to a career in financial services.

Through tackling new challenges every day, you will shape your future. As one of the first banks to hire front office apprentices, this role is a unique opportunity to explore our investment bank, meaningfully contribute to the company and lead change.

A normal day would include:
•Helping the team to develop, analyse and deliver business enablement
•Helping with maintaining organisational charts, putting together presentations and running spreadsheet analyses
•Performing run-the-bank and/or specialised work to assist your team, e.g. summarising letters, completing information searches or keeping documentation up-to-date
•Preparing reports and presentations for projects and completing documentation for stakeholders
•Some roles may include involvement in strategic initiatives (e.g. regulatory, change driven or cost related projects)

You will gain first-hand insight into the investment bank’s business areas (including equities, FRC and CCS) and logistics and control functions (including financial accounting, regulatory reporting, legal and compliance) with the possibility to develop a broad network within the firm.

Your tasks will centre around helping the team in managing and coordinating projects, initiatives and ad hoc tasks in collaboration with the businesses and other stakeholders.

UBS offer expert advice, wealth management and investment banking. They have around 60,000 employees in all major financial centres, in almost 900 offices and more than 50 countries.

What you could go on to do:
Your career development and professional qualifications don’t stop after the apprenticeship. Focused and determined individuals will be able to attain further qualifications - equivalent to a degree – and when your training is complete, you will take on the role of IB COO junior business manager with the opportunity to assume ownership for selected project.

How you will be supported:
Full training and support will be provided by our expert training and assessment staff at The Growth Company. Onsite support will be provided by your line manager, team, mentor and HR.

What will happen next:
Applicants who meet the entry requirements will be contacted within one week.

What we offer you?
•An exciting opportunity to take your first steps into the world of investment banking - an apprenticeship with a truly global firm, one which won 'Highly Commended' and was included in the 'Top 100 Employers' list at the 2015 National Apprenticeship Awards
•When we say global, we mean it – UBS has over 900 offices in over 50 countries, and we have been helping clients for over 150 years
•The opportunity to work alongside some of the best people in the financial services industry and high visibility with the bank’s senior management including the IB COO
•Great additional training programmes, through our training partners The Growth Company, Fitch Learning and our UBS Business University
•Recognition and reward for your talent and hard work
