About this opportunity

Support customers in self-care and in the safe and effective use of all their medicines, signposting to other professionals when appropriate. This is achieved by providing at all times the highest levels of customer care and service.

A normal day would include:

As a Pharmacy Assistant you take great pride in supporting customers with self-care and effective medicine use. You will respond appropriately to customer requests for advice on self-care and the use of their medicines. You will ask questions appropriately using the 2WHAM algorithm before selecting a suitable product referring to the pharmacist or signposting to another professional as appropriate.

• You will support customers in the safe and appropriate storage of medicines, identifying problems in the taking of their medicines such as interactions, or other factors that might affect their compliance
• Ensure that stock displays are clean, fully stocked and that planograms are implemented appropriately
• Assist in ensuring that in line with GPhC guidelines a date checking and cleaning schedule is in place and records maintained
• Make sure customer contact details are current, including exemption details, requesting an email address if available
• Ensure all customer / customers representatives sign prescription forms or tokens as appropriate at the time of dispensing, or collection, and that evidence of exemption is correct and actively requested where appropriate
• You will ensure reception and waiting areas are presented in a clean tidy and professional manner
• Be aware of waiting times and potential issues with dispensing or the provision of advice and other services, keeping the team / patients informed of any delays
• Assist in ensuring that invoices and statements are correct, stock is checked off accurately and that returns are completed accurately and promptly
