An exciting opportunity for a mechanical engineering apprenticeship is available at Aspin Engineering Limited. You will be trained as a machinist, to learn skills on all aspects of workshop machining.
A normal day would include:
• Operating a variety of machine tools including lathes, EDM, grinders, VMCs etc
• Read and interpret drawings to ensure accurate production
• Understand Health and Safety procedures and apply to their working environment
• Machining tools for the electrical wiring industry
• Learning to programme CNC machines
• Takes precise measurements for cutting or shaping
• Select appropriate machine and settings for a given task
• Plans proper sequence of tasks to complete the assignment
• Check output for quality assurance and documents or discard defects
• Identifies need for and performs machine maintenance and minor repairs
• Maintains a safe and clean workstation
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed

GCSE grade C/4 or above in English and maths is preferred or the ability to work this level
