About this opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity to work with an experienced team as an apprentice in the production of cardboard products to learn all aspects of production across the key manufacturing departments.

A normal day would include
The company are actively seeking to recruit an Apprentice to join the production team and work with very experienced staff who wish to support a new recruit to the industry. The successful candidate will learn and assist with the following procedures:

In brief the process incorporates receiving waste paper, sorting mechanically via screens to remove foreign objects such as plastic tape, polystyrene, glass, metal objects etc. The clean raw material is fed into a board machine which forms a sheet of cardboard at various thicknesses. The board is then cut and converted into sheets, tubes and edge board for supply to customers. There is the opportunity to work in 3 - 4 different parts of the process making the work varied over a period of time.

There will be a structured training programme in place to ensure that the Apprentice will be fully conversant with each part of the production process.

The apprenticeship will be a shop floor hands on based role, able to understand instructions and work within the Company’s high standards for achieving high quality products and safe working practices.

Full training and support will be provided by our expert training and assessment staff at The Skills Company. A comprehensive training program has been developed by Romiley Board for the Apprenticeship and beyond.

What you should have to apply

Good GCSE achievements demonstrating a good level of understanding in both Maths and English.
The successful candidate will preferably have achieved GCSE Grade C in Maths and English.
