About this opportunity

Auto Marine Cables welcomes male and female applicants. This apprentice role will be within the manufacturing department, working closely with existing highly trained staff and offers a significant reward package for the successful candidates.

A normal day would include:
• Undertaking production operations as required, to produce the required products to the required standards of quality and productivity
• Taking part in winding and striping cables, packing accessories, despatch products and product assembly
• Following work instructions, job sheets and planning boards, following standard operating procedures
• Picking stock to fulfil customer orders, packing them in such a way as to minimise potential damage during carriage
• Assisting in loading and unloading carriers’ vehicles
• Receiving incoming goods, checking all goods received against quality samples and standards, quarantining faulty goods in line with quality procedures
• Handling stock during business processes, being responsible for stock integrity, labelling and storage
• Arranging for scrap cable and empty drums or containers to be collected
• Keeping work areas clean and tidy with products / materials in allocated spaces
• Alerting relevant personnel to stock discrepancies

The apprenticeship will be a shop floor hands on based role with your aim being to develop your practical skills and knowledge of the production and assembly process to become a fully contributing member of the team.

What you should have to apply

• Good GCSE achievements demonstrating a good level of understanding in both maths and English
• The successful candidate will preferably have achieved GCSE Grade C in maths and English

Personal Qualities

• Be physically able to manoeuvre and lift into position various pieces of production equipment
• Have experience within a manufacturing environment would be desirable
• Possess good IT, numeric and literacy skills being able to read and understand job sheets, and process output data using the in-house system
• Be able to prioritise own workload, being able to work on own initiative with minimum supervision
• Possess good communication and interpersonal skills
• Be willing to be flexible in working hours as shift work applies
• To work within the company’s health and safety guidelines and regulations, pro-actively contributing to a safe and healthy working environment
• Be willing to undergo future training and development as required by the role and management in order to attain business objectives and goals

Skills

• A current fork lift truck licence is desirable
• Ability to work in a logical organised manner
• Have an Interest in working in a technical production role.
• Be able to perform assembly work with dexterity
• Be able to work in an accurate manner
• Good communicator - verbal and written (emphasis on team working skills)
• Able to work safely operating machines and equipment
• Able to read and follow technical instructions
• Prepared to work in hands on shop floor role in a busy production environment
• Must be able to work well as part of the manufacturing team
