About this opportunity

An exciting Apprenticeship is available, working in a manufacturing department. Working closely with highly trained staff to learn all aspects of production across the manufacturing department.

A normal day would include:

The Apprentice Operators will work closely with the existing very experienced manufacturing team to learn and develop your skills and gain knowledge of machine operations in the department. The fire sprinkler systems manufactured on site in a modern environment are bespoke to each customer’s requirements. The designs are produced on site by our own design team.

The main duties within the department include:
Preparation:
• Transfer of raw materials from stores to production

Production:
• Assembling parts
• Transferring pipe work in preparation for production
• Preparing pipes to specific sizes
• Operating machines to make grooves in the pipes
• Operating band saws and circular saws as required
• Fitting pipe work
• Painting of pipe work

Quality Control:
• Inspection of goods in accordance with relevant Operating Procedures Complete required documentation in line with respective Operating Procedures

Health & Safety:
• Reading from work instructions and controlling documentation.
• Keeping work area clean and tidy and working as part of a team.
• Following good health and safety working practices in line with Company procedures.

The apprenticeship will be a shop floor hands on based role with your aim being to develop your practical skills and knowledge of the production and assembly process to become a fully contributing member of the team.

What you could go on to do
Potential progression to the Servicing Department learning engineering maintenance disciplines or gaining experience in the design areas of the business

Full training and support will be provided by The Growth Company to help you achieve your apprenticeship and reach your full potential in your role combined with a structured in house training programme with the Company.

What you should have to apply

• Good GCSE achievements demonstrating a good level of understanding in both Maths and English.
• The successful candidate will preferably have achieved GCSE Grade C in Maths and English.
• Evidence of working in a technical environment would be an advantage or an interest or hobby in assembling parts eg cars, bicycles, domestic equipment

• Willingness to work in a hands-on production role
• Good interpersonal/team working skills
• Dependable/good time keeping
• Positive attitude to work and personal development
• Must be prepared to work in a manufacturing based environment

Skills

• Ability to work in a logical organised manner
• Have an Interest in working in a technical production role.
• Be able to perform assembly work in an accurate manner
• Good communicator - verbal and written (emphasis on team working skills)
• Able to work safely operating machines and equipment
• Able to read and follow technical instructions
• Prepared to work in hands on shop floor role in a busy production environment
• Must be able to work well as part of the manufacturing team
