This course is for school or college leavers aged 16 to 18 who are thinking of working in a school setting.

This qualification will be run alongside the Health and Social Care Study Programme at our St Helens Training Centre for those who would like a career working in a nursery or a school.

What does the course cover?

You will learn to:

  • Understand schools as organisations
  • Understand how to keep children and young people healthy, safe and well
  • Understand how to communicate with children, young people and adults
What will I achieve?

On successful completion, you will achieve:

Level 1 or 2 in Health and Social Care

Level 1 Preparing to Work in Schools

Functional Skills Maths and English (if applicable)

There are a number of progression routes available to you following the completion of your Study Programme, our dedicated team will discuss these with you. 

What are the entry requirements?

There are no formal entry requirements.

When will I attend?

You will be required to attend the training centre 3 days per week

How much does the course cost?

The course is FREE for anyone aged 16-18.
