Coronavirus (COVID-19): Advice for learners and apprentices

In-line with government advice all our GC Education and Skills Training Centres and SkillCentre sites will suspend face-to-face classes from Friday 20 March until further notice. Please do not attend any of our sites after this date.

Information for study programme learners

We have arranged for virtual learning packs to be made available to you so that you can continue to work towards your qualification. This work can be undertaken whilst you are at home. If you have forgotten your log in or need help, please contact your tutor or email our customer services team at info@gceducationandskills.ac.uk

Information for apprentices

In order to safeguard the progress and achievement of your apprenticeship it is going to be very important that you complete work that is set by your skills coach or tutor. This work must be recorded as part of your off the job (OTJ) training record. If you have any queries about this, please do make contact with your skills coach.

Our skills coaches will be remote working during this time, and they will be on hand to send, receive and mark work and feedback remotely. They will be contacting you on a weekly basis via email, phone, online learning platforms or by any other available means in order to support you with your ongoing learning, to ensure that it is being undertaken and progress is being made towards work set.

We are also working hard with the End Point Assessment organisations to ensure that where possible end point assessments can still take place virtually. Your skills coach will provide more information over the coming days and weeks. Should you feel you have insufficient work allocated, please make contact with your skills coach for a further allocation or alternatively for any queries, contact our customer services team and they will ensure that your enquiry is a passed on to the relevant delivery teams. You can contact our team at info@gceducationandskills.ac.uk

Due to the current working environment, there may be instances where your skills coach/tutor could change during this period, however our key focus is to ensure if this does happen your progress is not impacted.

If your place of work is closed due to the virus, please contact your skills coach to inform them. They will then rearrange your appointment or find an alternative way to contact you (e.g. telephone or Skype).

Will this impact my apprenticeship or course?

No. If you are unable to attend your class or place of work your apprenticeship or course will not be impacted. We will be adhering to the latest advice from the Department for Education in order to ensure you are able to continue your learning.

We will be following the latest government advice and we will keep you informed of any changes to our services as the situation develops.
