We are looking for two apprentices to work a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, working with a small dedicated Dairy farm team at The University of Liverpool's vet school.
This is a role for enthusiastic people with little or no previous experience but who wish to start a career in the industry. Training will be given for all aspects of the role.
Working within a small team, dedicated to the farm- answering to the farm manager or assistant farm manager
Care of newborn calves and Dam – feeding colostrum then moving calf to calf housing- making sure the dam is fed and managed correctly- as required
Scraping up with tractor- cow yards -daily
Scraping and bedding youngstock- daily
Keeping key areas clean, ie milking parlour, handling area, viewing galleries, calf accomodation- weekly
Bedding down straw yards with tractor and loader-twice weekly- training will be given
Basic machinery maintenance, ie greasing, checking oil levels – weekly
Getting cows in for milking, cleaning beds off and putting new bedding down- helping milker clean up after milking- afternoons
Working alongside work experience students.
Minimum of 3 GCSEs or equivalent at grade C and above in English, Maths and ICT.

Ability to prioritise work and work to deadlines
Good attention to detail and high level of accuracy
Ability to drive.
Working with a closely integrated small team, 4 days on 4 days off rota. 8am to 6pm day- 1 hour for lunch.<br>
