Developed by the Government as part of the Lifetime Skills Guarantee, Skills Bootcamps are being delivered in partnership with employers, providers and local authorities, to help people gain skills for life, help support skills demands in their local area, and ultimately – to help people get a better job.

Skills Bootcamps are flexible courses of up to 16 weeks, giving people the opportunity to build up sector-specific skills and fast-track to a guaranteed interview with a local employer.

What is the fully funded entry criteria?

Our Skills Bootcamps are fully funded for anyone aged 19+ who are:

  • Employed either full-time or part-time
  • Unemployed
  • Self-employed
  • A serving prisoner due to be released within 6 months of completion of a Skills Bootcamp and those on temporary release

Can my employees complete more than one Skills Bootcamp?

They can only complete one of Skills Bootcamps per funding year (1st April to 31st March) and must not be on more than one Skills Bootcamp at any one time.

What are the costs for my business?

There is no cost to recruit individuals who have completed a Skills Bootcamp.

If you wish to upskill your existing employees, you will need to contribute to the cost of training. If you are:

  • a large employer, you will contribute 30% of the cost
  • a small or medium employer (SMEs), you will contribute 10% of the cost

Existing employees may need time to study and attend classes depending on their working hours and status and the flexibility of the course.

What are my responsibilities as an employer?

Your responsibilities may include:

  • a safe work environment
  • an induction which includes explaining relevant policies and procedures
  • a line manager to support, supervise and mentor the student
  • a guaranteed interview as part of the Skills Bootcamp provision
